Understanding the terms for OpenSettings Community and Paid Editions
The Community Edition of OpenSettings is provided under the MIT License, a permissive open-source license. This version is free for personal, educational purposes and non-commercial use. You may modify and distribute it as long as you include the original copyright and license notice.
MIT License Copyright (c) 2024 OpenSettings Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a copy of this software and associated documentation files (the "Software"), to deal in the Software without restriction, including without limitation the rights to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the Software, and to permit persons to whom the Software is furnished to do so, subject to the following conditions: The above copyright notice and this permission notice shall be included in all copies or substantial portions of the Software. THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS OR COPYRIGHT HOLDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE SOFTWARE.
The Paid Editions of OpenSettings, including the Personal, Pro, and Enterprise versions, offer additional features, extended support, and commercial usage rights. These versions are subject to the following terms:
- License Scope: Paid Editions provide a commercial license, allowing you to use the software in production environments, including for enterprise and commercial purposes. The Community Edition remains free for non-commercial use, with limited features.
- Offline License Keys: Paid Editions use offline license keys that are non-revocable once issued. These keys cannot be disabled or deactivated after issuance. Unauthorized distribution of the license key is prohibited.
- Premium Features: Paid Editions grant access to premium features, such as priority technical support, custom feature requests, and exclusive updates.
- Support: Paid Edition users are entitled to priority support via email and online chat. Community Edition users are not entitled to official support.
- Refund Policy: Refunds are not provided for Paid Edition purchases. Due to the nature of software and offline key distribution, all sales are final. It is recommended that you review all features and terms before purchasing.
- License Transfer and Resale: The Paid Edition license is non-transferable and non-resellable. The license key provided is tied to the account and cannot be shared with third parties.
- Subscription Model: For subscription-based Paid Editions, updates and support are available as long as the subscription is active. If the subscription expires, access to updates and support will be revoked until the license is renewed.
- License Termination: OpenSettings reserves the right to terminate your license if any of the terms are violated. Upon termination, you must cease using the software and delete or return all copies.
- Key Sharing: Redistributing or sharing Paid Edition license keys is strictly prohibited. Violators may face legal action and termination of the license.
- Unauthorized Usage: OpenSettings reserves the right to monitor the usage of license keys to ensure compliance with the terms. Unauthorized usage may lead to termination of the license.
- No Warranty: The software is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. OpenSettings is not liable for any damages arising from the use of the software.
- Third-Party Components: The Paid Edition may include third-party software components. You must comply with the respective third-party licenses for those components.
- Updates: Paid Edition users will receive software updates as part of their active subscription. Community Edition users may receive updates, but are not entitled to priority or exclusive updates.
By downloading, installing, or using OpenSettings, you agree to the terms outlined in this License. If you do not agree with these terms, you must not use the software.

OpenSettings reserves the right to update this License Agreement at any time. Any changes will be posted on our website, and continued use of the software will signify your acceptance of the revised terms.
- Termination for Breach: OpenSettings may terminate your license at any time if you fail to comply with the terms of the agreement. Upon termination, you must immediately stop using the software and delete all copies in your possession.
- Refund Policy: Due to the nature of the product (software and offline keys), refunds are not available after purchase. Please review the features and terms thoroughly before making your purchase.
- Non-renewable License: The Paid Editions of OpenSettings come with a non-renewable license key. Once your license expires, you will need to purchase a new license key to continue using the software and receive updates or support.
- License Expiration Notification: You will receive an email notification 5 days before your license key expires, informing you that your license will be deactivated unless a new key is provided.
- Loss of Access: Once the license expires, you will lose access to all updates, premium features, and support until a new license key is entered into the system.
